Manassas , VA The new FBI satellite field office under construction on 15 acres at Innovation@ Prince William Technology Business Park should be ready for occupancy by November 19th, according to Michael Morehart, Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent In-Charge of the Washington Field Office. Mr. Morehart was the guest speaker for the PrinceWilliamCounty—Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce October Networking Luncheon held on Tuesday, October 23rd at the Best Western Battlefield Inn in Manassas. The event was sponsored by A-1 Flood Tech.

The new 5-story facility was constructed with special state-of-the art security features such as an exterior fence that can withstand the force of a tractor trailer, an emergency containment unit in the foyer and secure underground parking. The building has been designated as a Continuity of Operations facility with built-in capabilities that will allow it to continue to operate in the event of an emergency. It also boasts a fitness facility complete with jogging track.

The 250 special agents and support personnel who staff the facility will be involved with counter-intelligence, counter-terrorism and white collar crime investigation. The FBI’s largest computer response team will conduct forensic work from its extensive computer room.

The FBI team plans to reach out to the community in a variety of ways. It will conduct an annual “Citizen’s Academy,” an 8-week course in which community leaders are invited to learn more about the FBI, including participating in mock polygraph tests and shooting at the range in Quantico.

In addition, the FBI will “adopt” local schools with populations of at-risk youth. The students, called Junior Special Agents will participate in field trips and other special FBI programs.

“What an honor! Our community was selected as the best location to put a self-contained, technologically advanced, highly secure FBI facility. I am always pleased with what I learn as a member of the Chamber. We have such wonderful exposure to all that is happening through presentations like this one,” commented Charlyn Hasson-Brown, Executive Director of CASA of Greater Prince William.
