Celebrating 75 Years of Excellence in Business

MANASSAS, VA—The Prince William County-Greater Manassas Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that we will celebrate our 75th Anniversary on Monday, April 19, 2010. The landmark occasion, dubbed the Diamond Anniversary: Celebrating 75 Years of Brilliance, will be commemorated with a reception for our members wherein we will honor many of the past Chairmen of our Board of Directors while our members enjoy networking and reuniting with old friends. Stonewall Golf Club will host the late afternoon reception and a cake has been donated by Cakes by Happy Eatery. Payne Publishers, Inc. was gracious enough to donate the printing of some beautiful invitations which were sent out to our members. The event will be sponsored by ActionCoach Business Coaching, Advantage Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation, LLC and Falcon Communications Solutions, Inc.
Founded in 1935, the Greater Chamber has grown and evolved along with the community that it serves. Its first meeting was held in the Manassas Town Hall on April 18, 1935, at the urging of members of the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce. Mr. C. C. Cloe, now deceased, was unanimously elected as the Chamber's first President and dues were set at $5 per annum. One of the first items of business tackled by the new Chamber was to determine whether traffic justified paving Dumfries Road, today a four lane highway connecting both ends of our County. These days the dues start at $270 per year to match the volume of services, we have a staff of ten ladies dispersed between the Old Town Manassas and Gainesville offices and the Chairman of our Board is Ms. Molly Grove of the Prince William Campus of George Mason University. As the area’s oldest Chamber, one thing that has not changed is the Greater Chamber’s commitment to being an instrumental force in the improvement of the quality of life throughout the entire Prince William County–Greater Manassas region.

Over the course of the last three quarters of a century, the Greater Chamber has been at the forefront of a number of efforts including the desegregation of local businesses in 1963 and the conception of both the Manassas Regional Airport and Prince William Hospital. Your Greater Chamber is still committed to being a driving force in local economic development and promotion of the image of Prince William County and the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park throughout the Northern Virginia region.
