Tools for School Supply Drive Connects Local
Businesses With the Community
Donate Supplies to See That Every Child Starts the Year off Right

The Prince William Chamber of Commerce has kicked off its “Tools for School” Supply Drive, which unites businesses and the public to provide back-to-school essentials to area children in need.
Now through August 9th, the public is encouraged to drop off new school supplies such as binders, backpacks and glue sticks at one of the more than 30 collection sites throughout the Prince William/Manassas area. For a full listing of drop-off sites and needed supplies, visit www.pwchamber.org, and follow the “Tools for School” link on the homepage, or call 703-590-5000. There is also an option for purchasing supplies online. A $20 donation purchases a backpack fully-stocked with back-to-school basics, which the Prince William Chamber will distribute  to area Title I Schools and several local charities serving Prince William County and the Cities of Manassas and Manassas Park.
The Education and Community Development Committees of the Prince William Chamber are working hand-in-hand on this project, recognizing that today’s students are the future of our community.

Says Education Committee Co-Chair Denyse Carroll, “My favorite part of this program is that each child gets his or her own backpack and a book that they can keep. Its so precious to see the recognition on their faces in knowing that the supplies we have placed in their hands are theirs alone. They don’t have to borrow from the schools. They want to learn, they just need the right tools.” By working together with business leaders and the community, the Prince William Chamber plans to outfit more than 1,500 local children with backpacks full of complete supplies.
