Dominion Woman's Club SCRAMBLE a success!
Dominion Woman's Club - 7/22/2010
On July 12th, Dominion Woman’s Club hosted its annual “Scramble for Shelter” golf tournament at Dominion Valley Country Club’s magnificent Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course. For the 3rd year in a row the weather cooperated, to the delight of the 87 golfers who assembled for 18 holes of FUNdraising.
The event was generously supported by major sponsors; FM Global, Kelmar Inc, Thomas Bigoski Insurance Agency LLC , BB&T Bank, Cathy’s Home Team, Advantage Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation LLC?, Tony's New York Pizza, Renewal MedSpa, Fauquier Bank?, Best Buy, McLaughlin Family, Williams Family, Rudy Family and Petrella Family. Over 50 other businesses, groups and individuals also stepped up as cart sponsors, raffle and silent auction sponsors, donating thousands of dollars worth of products and services, making the event a truly exceptional experience for all in attendance.
During the awards ceremony, prizes were awarded for the top men’s, women’s and mixed teams, along with longest drive and closest to the pin for men and women and a putting contest winner.
And of course the big winner of the day was the charities supported by the Dominion Woman’s Club. Nearly $14, 000.00 was raised during this event, all of which will go towards continuing and expanding numerous projects and programs provided by the club in support of their mission to improve the community by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service.
According to Dominion Woman’s Club Founder and “Scramble for Shelter’ Chairperson, Nanette McKeel Petrella, “The funds raised during this event, while substantial and critical to our work, are only part of the benefit to the community. They provide the seed money for much of our work, which is then enhanced by the generous in-kind donations we receive from our own membership and supporters, and is further amplified by the volunteer service hours provided by our club women. The beneficial impact to the members of our community is immense and long lasting. It truly has the potential to change lives for the better and for that we are extremely grateful.”
